This past Thursday, I had the privilege of attending the packed gallery opening of IN/SIGHT 2010, a showcase of American Indian art at the Chelsea Art Museum. The event was sponsored by UNRESERVED Alliance – an organization devoted to fostering and encouraging the talents of American Indians, with whom we’ve recently partnered with to develop a social media strategy. The event was covered by the NY Times, BBC, a variety of art blogs, and more. Our efforts are in collaboration with The O Group and Company Agenda, two NYC-based marketing firms. I finally got around to listening to Remarks on Internet Freedom made by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This is powerful stuff and if history has a decent memory this should become a fairly prominent moment. In my mind, it is the first substantial framing of access to information via the internet as a universal human right. My only complaint is that her ideals fall flat on what I would consider to be an additional human right — anonymity. (more…)
