New MuteBlue NetBeans 6.9 Theme

Posted on: September 29th, 2010 by Rob Zienert

Last night, I was having a debate with one of my friends, James, on IDE themes. The trouble of it is, the NetBeans community doesn’t get too many themes shared and basically, James hates my current theme. So, naturally, I decided to semi-clone the one he uses from TextMate and bring it over. I’m trying it out right now and thought I would share with the world.

My first blog post

Posted on: September 8th, 2010 by adam

Hooray! I’m blogging! But seriously, I haven’t completely decided the direction most of my posts will go on this blog. I think a good mix of business and pleasure would suit my page nicely and hopefully keep you readers coming back for more. Since this is my first foray into blogs, I hope my tech savvy co-workers will keep me from 404ing every link and image I post, but only time will tell. I also never claim to be a grammar expert and I also believe spell checker to be one of the greatest inventions ever, hopefully all of these will at least be coherent enough to get through from start to finish. So until I prepare a proper first blog post, thanks for stopping by and I hope to thrill you all with my upcoming posts. Your mind = blown!

Cayman Islands at the 2006 Commonwealth Game

Posted on: September 8th, 2010 by Tim

So, I was told I had to write a blog post. Since I’ve never been much of a blogger, I had zero idea what to write about. Naturally, I went to the source of all things credible on these interwebz in search of a pertinent topic: Wikipedia. Hitting the best button on that website–the little used “Random Article” feature–I intend to tell you how whatever topic comes up has changed my life, for better or worse.

Drumroll please….

Cayman Islands at the 2006 Commonwealth Games

Sad day for the british colony, leaving the Commonwealth Games without a single medal. Now, before approximately 2 minutes ago I had never heard of the Commonwealth Games. However, I have been to the Cayman Islands once, in 2001. While that might not be 2006, it is still important to note that 2001 was a foundational year for me not just because of my trip to the Cayman Islands. It was my freshman year of highschool. That might date me as a youngin, but I’m okay with that. I entered the big world. Sporting a new haircut and a fresh backpack I took a step up from my lowly middle school, ready to mix and mingle with all the new faces that accompanied a new school, especially with the ladies. In that vein, my freshman year was similar to the performance of the Cayman Islands at the Commonwealth Games. I never scored.

I hope this has enriched your life.

Good day.

Press Release: Hospice of the Comforter

Enhanced Resources on www.HospiceoftheComforter.org Include Online Tributes, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance, and English-Spanish Site Conversion

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FLA… The newly redesigned Hospice of the Comforter Web site, www.HospiceoftheComforter.org, features expanded content including photo galleries, tribute pages and accessibility tools for Spanish-speaking visitors or visitors with visual impairments.  The redesign incorporated a fresh color palette, original photography of real patients, families and employees, as well as a fully redesigned navigation.

"Our purpose in redesigning our Web site was two-fold,” explains Melissa Silvers, Communications Manager at Hospice of the Comforter. "First, we wanted to increase access to our services by creating a Web site that translated, was easy to navigate and was ADA compliant.  Second, we wanted our users to experience the same warmth and comfort that our care provides, and elements like our photography, tribute pages and photo galleries foster that experience.”

Content More Dynamic, Streamlined

Visitors to the Web site include people seeking information on hospice care and caregiving, volunteering, grief support and donations.  Hospice of the Comforter partnered with Orlando-based digital agency Purple, Rock, Scissors. to develop a site that would provide quick and direct access to all of these resources for all audiences. And if a user is not sure exactly where to look for specific information on www.HospiceoftheComforter.org, the newly developed site-wide search engine will help.

Tribute Pages allow users to easily upload a story, quote and photo of their deceased loved ones. Once the page is published, the tribute page can be shared with loved ones via email, text, Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

"Latest News and Updates” provides regularly updated blogs about a variety of topics including medical perspectives, organizational news, volunteering, financial support and grief support.  Users can also sign up for an electronic newsletter to stay connected.

Aaron Harvey of Purple, Rock, Scissors. shared how the project was unique for their digital agency because through their partnership with Hospice of the Comforter, “We have the privilege of connecting patients with compassionate care, families with support programs, and volunteers with outreach opportunities through an innovative, online medium.”

Business and Pleasure

Posted on: April 9th, 2009 by EJ

My one true passion in life is travel, as cliche as that sounds.  Travel being such an important part of my life I always look for an opportunity. And if it’s work related, all the more better.  I am grateful that my job is incredibly flexible…all I need is a laptop and hi-speed Internet connection. Luckily this is not an issue anywhere…from the jungles of Costa Rica to a desolate village in Ukraine, you will always find a hostel with a hi-speed Internet connection.

My last journey took me to the land of milk and honey, Israel, or as the locals call it Eretz Israel.  This is my third trip to this country and I can’t stop.  Political tensions aside once you spend some time there you understand why this land is post-modern holy.  The entire country is one giant museum coupled with amazing beaches, beautiful women, amazing food…heaven on earth.   But aside from all the fun, touristy stuff I was here on a business mission…our new client was near Tel Aviv.  Time for a trip!

Over the next few days I spent time with our new client having Breakfast and Beers doing discovery, alignment and contract signing.  I love my job!
