Overview
Madison Marquette is a retail development company with strategic properties in Asbury Park, NJ. In partnership with Push, Madison Marquette sought to develop an innovative travel website to support the revitalization of the Asbury Park Boardwalk. Push called on Purple, Rock, Scissors to help concept and execute the web project.
The Challenge
The project required experiential brand immersion, while the content management system had to be capable of managing events, news, shops, diners, night spots, and other travel-related information. In addition, the website had to offer rock n’ roll memorabilia from each of the Boardwalk’s famous concert halls, including the Stone Pony.
The Solution
The visual design showcases the Rock ‘n’ roll history of the Asbury Park Boardwalk. From the scrolling marquee to The Stone Pony billboard, the home page – developed in Flash – offers a snapshot of all the latest happenings in Asbury Park. In addition, Purple, Rock, Scissors developed a custom content management system that seamlessly integrates with Flash, ensuring that the biggest upcoming concerts are featured right on the home page. Email reminders and “share” links are offered for events, which are sortable by date and venue. The Google Maps integration features custom iconography, category filters, and static overlays. And through the integration of a third party E-Commerce platform, users can purchase merchandise from The Stone Pony, Boardwalk, and Wonder Bar.

The Result
The website has garnered media attention around the nation for its innovation, winning an OAF Gold Addy Award in Interactive Media; Adobe’s “Site of the Day;” two Pixel Awards nominations; and editorial in the Orlando Business Journal and NJ-based triCityNews.
